Executive Committee Roles

DAMA Sydney is run by an executive committee composed of volunteers. All committee members are office holders – everyone has a job. The committee members are elected for a 12 month period at the Annual General Meeting. Committee members must be financial paid up DAMA members, i.e. they have either a paid up individual membership or their employer is a paid up corporate member.
Committee members are expected to contribute, on average, 4-6 hours per month to DAMA Sydney matters. If you are unable to make that level of time commitment please do not nominate for the committee. The committee typically meets on a monthly basis to review past events, plan future events and address a variety of matters.
The roles are:

President

Responsible for ‘making things happen’. Organises other committee members to ensure that DAMA Sydney is a vibrant and active chapter

Treasurer

Responsible for tracking inflows and outflows of money. Ensures that bills are paid promptly and DAMA Sydney complies with the financial reporting requirements of a ‘Not For Profit’ association.

Membership

Responsible for maintaining a current list of members, issuing membership due notices and chasing membership payments. Also includes activities to increase membership

Education

Responsible for creating a calendar of events and organising speakers. Continually surveying the horizon to see emerging trends in data management. Keeps abreast of any ‘gurus’ visiting Australia and organises for them to speak at DAMA.

Sponsorship

Responsible for finding and keeping sponsors to support DAMA Sydney financially.

Webmaster

Responsible for updating the DAMA Sydney website with events and other information.

Event Organiser

Responsible for booking venues, buying speaker gifts, bringing the data projector, creating events on Eventbrite and creating MailChimp notifications.
