The topic:

Instant Enterprise Models – Just add Patterns

Enterprise-wide data models delivered in weeks, days or even hours? Real-life examples will be presented to argue the case that enough of a model can be delivered to provide value to the enterprise if
- Proven patterns are applied judiciously;
- The model is scoped to be “fit for purpose”.

These models are not “quick & dirty” models that need to be discarded. By building with mature patterns, even lightweight models can provide a stable foundation for longer-term evolution to a more complete model. Instead of the old adage, “You get what you pay for”, it is suggested that you can get a lot more than you thought you would have to pay for!

The presentation is intended commence by a look at some patterns that have been applied successfully across a variety of industries. With this as a foundation, some war-stories will be told of their use, and finally some lessons of experience shared. ".

The Presenter:

John Giles has nearly 40 years experience in IT, the majority in senior roles with some of Australia's leading IT consultancies.  He has wide-ranging experience encompassing application areas as diverse as manufacturing, welfare, retail, construction, engineering, telecommunications, environment management, primary industries, land registry, transport, finance, defence and police. Specialties include consulting / training / mentoring at the corporate strategic level through to involvement at all levels of systems development, notably conceptual data and class modelling.
